Snap Happy - Engagement Shoot

Around this time last year, about six months after we got engaged, we had a couples shoot with the infinitely talented Simple Tapestry.

I wasn't sure how to feel about it at first. Having spent the last 10 years working in journalism and PR, I'm much happier behind the camera. To say I'm a reluctant subject is an understatement (if you're not counting heavily filtered selfies) but our friendly snappers, Deci and Brideen countered that it would take the sting out of the photography on the big day itself. Of course, they were right. And we have some beautiful photographs that we'll treasure forever.

We took a walk up Black Mountain -  a beautiful spot overlooking Belfast. And remarkably, it was all quite painless. I'd highly reccomend having a couples/engagement shoot to anyone that's nervous about wedding photography. I know it all seems a bit conceited but it's really not. It helps to calm the nerves and to work out those startled rabbit in the headlights poses, when you just don't know what to do with your face.

Here are some of my favourites. And yes, I am aware that we look like we're forming a folk band in places. If only either of us could sing...
