Blooming Marvellous: Best Buds Belfast

Blooming Marvellous: Best Buds Belfast

Few things in life make me happier than fresh flowers. And with spring on the horizon, i'm loving the array of new blooms - from the daffodils that are now flowering in our garden to the great array of colourful tulips springing up in the supermarkets.

I love getting flowers but I treat myself more often that I recieve them as gifts. I just love having them around - they brighten the house and my mood.

I first came across Best Buds Belfast when they opened a great little pop-up at Bullitt Belfast before Christmas. Ever since, I've been following them online and lusting after their gorgrous posies. So, last week, I finally gave in and ordered myself one.

It was delivered to the office last Wednesday, to the admiring glances of my colleagues, who clearly thought there was a special occasion they'd missed (and an opportunity for cake) or a husband with a guilty conscience. Some were surprised when I said I'd bought them myself; others thought it was a display of feminism. I was just happy to see them.

Five days on, the posy is holding up brilliantly and is bringing a touch of spring to our dining room. I'll definitely be ordering another posy in the not too distant future.

Best Buds' standard posies cost £25 including delivery within Belfast (BT1 - BT18). Ok, it's a good bit pricer than your average supermarket bouquet but the quality is also markedly different.

Best Buds Top Tips for keeping your flowers Blooming Marvellous:

Caitlin says:

  • "Throw it in a water-filled vase as soon as you get it and remove any leaves that might be touching the water. This will help to keep the water fresh."
  • "Trim the stems every couple of days, and cut them diagonally so as you are increasing the surface area of the stem."
  • "In many of the posies, we put eucalyptus or some other type of long lasting foliage. Once the flowers have slowly died-off, don't throw the long lasting foliage out. Just transfer it to another vase, with a small amount of water in the base. This type of foliage will often last for at least a month, so be sure not to throw it out!"
  • "Every couple of days, change the water. Fresh water equals happy flowers!"
